Completing your NQF4 or NQF5 is not the last step. Until the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has your qualification on record, you cannot register for the PDE or upgrade your status. Here is how to get it updated.
What you need
Submit your Statement of Results (SOR) together with one proof of competence:
- your LA letter and SOR, or
- your NQF qualification certificate and SOR.
The LA letter, which carries your Learner Achievement number, confirms that your results passed external moderation. The qualification certificate is issued once the qualification has been formally awarded. Either is accepted.
A competency letter from your assessor is not enough. It shows the assessors are done, but your results still have to pass external moderation. See the NQF4 assessment process and timelines for where the LA letter fits in.
Also have ready:
- a certified copy of your ID (not always required, but it helps with verification)
- your 7-digit PPRA reference number
- your full name, ID number and contact details
Make sure every copy you submit is certified.
Option 1: through the MyPPRA portal
- Go to theppra.org.za and log in to MyPPRA. If you do not have an account yet, create one first.
- Log a new query asking for your qualification status to be updated.
- Attach your certified SOR and your certified LA letter or qualification certificate.
- Wait for confirmation from the PPRA, which can take up to 30 days. Watch your email and your MyPPRA account for notifications.
Option 2: by email
Email the PPRA's education department at upgrades@theppra.org.za with certified copies of:
- your LA letter or qualification certificate
- your Statement of Results
- your ID
A clear subject line helps, for example: Qualification Update – [your name] – PPRA Ref [your 7-digit number].
You can keep the email short:
Dear Education Department,
Kindly update my MyPPRA profile to reflect my completed qualification. Attached are certified copies of my LA letter (or NQF qualification certificate), my Statement of Results and my ID document.
My details are: full name, ID number and PPRA reference number.
Kindly confirm receipt and update my profile accordingly.
Kind regards
After the update
Log in to MyPPRA and check that your qualification is showing as verified. For PDE 4 that is a requirement for registration, so do it well before registration for your sitting closes. Our guide on preparing for the PDE 4 and PDE 5 exams covers the next step.
We can do it for you
If you would rather not deal with the portal, we can update your status at the PPRA and register you for the PDE on your behalf. Contact us and we will tell you what we need and what it costs.
