We all dream of one day achieving success — that feeling that screams "I did it!" But success doesn't just appear. It's more like a spark: that moment in your mind when you dream of doing something and jump into action to bring the idea to life. Success ignites confidence, fuels ambition, and lights the path to even greater victories.
To get where we want to be, we must understand that each win comes with momentum. We don't just leap to our winnings; we go through a lot of processes to get there. One breakthrough leads to another — not because of luck, but because of how success changes us: how we think, how we act, and what we believe. Success builds a sense of possibility that fuels our risk-taking, our growth, and our determination. It fuels the feeling of "Wow, maybe I can do this — and I'm going to try!"
In this article we explore how to achieve success in the real estate business.
What are your goals and strategies? To breed success, start small and build momentum. Let's use an example: a 12-week goal-setting plan with action steps. Set your goals, set timelines for when you want to achieve them, and use the SMART technique:
Start learning the basics of real estate, building your network, and laying the groundwork for lead generation. Action steps for your first month:
Now you start getting leads, building visibility and credibility, and improving your knowledge and skills:
This is where you build momentum with your marketing, start closing deals, get serious leads, and grow your reputation:
I know two people who wanted to stay fit and healthy and decided to start running daily — the lady in her late 50s, the man in his 60s. They followed a 10-week running program that builds you up to running 5km. Week one started small: a 5-minute walk, a 2-minute run, a 5-minute walk; the next day a 3-minute run instead of 2; rest on Wednesday and Friday; and a set walk on Saturday. Each week the minutes increase, building stamina and endurance.
My focus here is on the lady. She told me she struggled so much to complete the program. She started just before December 2023 and always got stuck just before the 9-minute run in week 4 — and the program says you must redo a week you can't complete. She stopped for a while, tried again a few times in 2024, but still couldn't get past week 4. Eventually she and her husband started together in December 2024 — and guess what? She did it. She completed the 10-week program in January 2025, and they did their first 5km parkrun that first Saturday in February 2025. They're so dedicated that every Saturday they do their parkrun, and they recently completed the Selati 10km run.
Yes, it took longer than a year for her to reach that success at almost 60 years old — but she did it. She didn't let failure get her down; she pushed back at it. (My husband and I have now started the program too, and we're on week six — I still walk a little when I get tired, but the point is, we're doing it!)
The point of the story: success doesn't just happen. You start small and slowly, bit by bit, you reach it.
In conclusion: you've got this. And remember:
If you can't give excellent service, don't expect excellent results!
